What Is Direct Primary Care?

At Stryker Optimal Health & Wellness, we believe primary care should involve more than managing symptoms and renewing prescriptions.

Our Functional & Integrative Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership combines evidence-based primary care with a comprehensive approach to understanding your health. We consider your medical history, laboratory findings, nutrition, hormone health, metabolism, sleep, stress, and lifestyle when developing your treatment plan.

Our goal is to help you understand your health, address contributing factors when possible, and make informed decisions about your care.

All for a predictable monthly membership.

What Makes Our Direct Primary Care Different?

Many Direct Primary Care practices focus on providing affordable access to routine primary care.

At Stryker Optimal Health & Wellness, we take that concept further by incorporating functional and integrative medicine principles into the primary care services we provide.

We understand that symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, sleep disturbances, mood changes, and hormonal concerns may involve multiple contributing factors.

Rather than evaluating each concern in isolation, we consider how different aspects of your health may be connected.

Our approach includes:

  • Comprehensive health assessments and medical history reviews

  • Individualized laboratory evaluation when clinically indicated

  • Thyroid, hormone, and metabolic health assessments

  • Nutrition and lifestyle recommendations

  • Preventive care and chronic disease management

  • Medication management and ongoing monitoring

  • Evaluation of sleep, stress, and mental health concerns

  • Individualized treatment plans and follow-up

We use conventional medical evaluation and treatment alongside evidence-informed lifestyle and integrative strategies.

You receive comprehensive primary care focused on your individual needs, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

What Is Functional & Integrative Direct Primary Care?

Functional and integrative DPC combines two approaches to healthcare.

Direct Primary Care

DPC provides access to primary care services through a monthly membership paid directly to your healthcare provider.

Rather than billing insurance for each membership-covered appointment, you pay a predictable monthly fee.

Functional & Integrative Medicine

Our clinical approach considers potential contributing factors to your symptoms, including nutritional status, metabolic health, hormonal changes, lifestyle habits, and existing medical conditions.

We use laboratory findings, medical history, physical assessments, and clinical evidence to guide recommendations.

Together, these approaches provide an opportunity for more individualized healthcare with transparent pricing and ongoing provider support.

What Is Included in Your Membership?

Primary Care Appointments

Your membership includes primary care appointments based on your individual medical needs.

Whether you need an evaluation for a new concern, management of an existing condition, or follow-up after treatment, we determine appropriate care based on your health status.

We do not require unnecessary appointments simply to maintain your membership.

Comprehensive Health Evaluations

We evaluate your concerns using a functional and integrative perspective.

Depending on your symptoms and medical history, this may involve assessing:

  • Fatigue and low energy

  • Thyroid function

  • Hormonal changes

  • Weight gain and metabolic concerns

  • Insulin resistance and blood sugar regulation

  • Cardiovascular risk factors

  • Nutritional deficiencies

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Stress and mental health

  • Digestive health concerns

Testing and treatment recommendations are individualized and based on clinical findings.

Medication Management

We provide ongoing medication management when appropriate, including prescription reviews, treatment adjustments, and monitoring.

We consider medication effectiveness, potential side effects, interactions, and opportunities to simplify treatment when medically appropriate.

Preventive Healthcare

Preventive care is an important part of maintaining long-term health.

We address recommended screenings, cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors, nutrition, physical activity, and other preventive health concerns.

Individualized Follow-Up

Not every patient needs the same appointment schedule.

Patients with stable conditions may require less frequent visits. Others may benefit from closer monitoring, particularly when starting or adjusting treatment.

Follow-up frequency is determined by clinical need, treatment response, and patient safety.

Access to Labs, Medications, Supplements, and Injections at Cost

One of the benefits of our direct-pay approach is transparent access to healthcare services and products without traditional insurance billing markups.

When clinically appropriate, members have access to:

Laboratory Testing

Routine and expanded laboratory testing to support diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.

Prescription Medications

Access to medication options at cost when available through our clinic's participating pharmacy arrangements.

Professional-Grade Supplements

Access to supplements selected based on individual needs and clinical recommendations.

Direct Primary Care is not health insurance and does not replace coverage for emergency care, hospitalization, surgery, or specialist services.

Many patients choose to maintain insurance for larger medical expenses while using DPC for everyday primary care.
